We have completed a new shipment of aluminum sheets intended for curtain wall and building facade applications. These sheets are processed to meet the requirements of architectural cladding, offering a combination of light weight, corrosion resistance, and design flexibility.
Common Alloys for Curtain Wall Panels
Three alloy series dominate the curtain wall market, each chosen for specific performance requirements:
| Сплав | Темпер | Key Properties | Typical Applications |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1100 | H14 | High formability, excellent corrosion resistance, good anodizing response | Interior panels, decorative cladding, residential facades, complex formed shapes |
| 3003 | H14 / H16 | Moderate strength, superior corrosion resistance, good weldability | Exterior curtain walls, commercial building cladding, soffits, spandrel panels |
| 5005 | H34 / H36 | Good strength, excellent anodizing quality (clear and color match), superior corrosion resistance | Architectural panels requiring anodized finish, window trim, curtain wall components with uniform appearance |
| 5052 | H32 / H34 | Higher strength, excellent fatigue resistance, good marine atmosphere performance | High-rise building panels, coastal installations, industrial facades, wind-resistant cladding |
Key selection notes:
AA5052 – Chosen for higher strength requirements, such as tall buildings or coastal projects exposed to salt spray.
AA1100 H14 – Best formability for deep-drawn or sharply curved panels.
AA3003 H16 – Standard workhorse for general exterior cladding, balancing strength and workability.
AA5005 – Preferred when an anodized finish is specified, as it produces a consistent, streak-free surface.

Standard Dimensions and Tolerances
The following dimensions are commonly requested for curtain wall panel production:
| Толщина | Width | Length | Tolerance Class |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.5 mm – 2.0 mm | 1000 mm – 1500 mm | 2000 mm – 4000 mm | Standard (ASTM B209) |
| 2.0 mm – 3.0 mm | 1200 mm – 1600 mm | 2400 mm – 5000 mm | Standard or Precision |
| 3.0 mm – 4.0 mm | 1200 mm – 1600 mm | 2400 mm – 5000 mm | Structural grade |
Most requested combination: 2.0 mm thickness x 1250 mm width x 2500 mm length in 3003 H14.
Thicker panels (3.0 – 4.0 mm) are typically used for larger unitized curtain wall systems where panel stiffness is critical without adding excessive weight.
Dimensions Based on Recent Orders
The following dimensions have been frequently requested by our clients for curtain wall panel production. This shipment includes a range of sizes to accommodate different project requirements.
AA1100 H14 – 3.0 mm thickness
| Width (mm) | Length (mm) |
|---|---|
| 1220 | 2440 |
| 2000 | 3000 |
| 1500 | 3000 |
| 1500 | 3600 |
AA1100 H14 – 2.85 mm thickness
| Width (mm) | Length (mm) |
|---|---|
| 1500 | 3600 |
| 1220 | 2440 |
| 2000 | 3000 |
| 1500 | 3000 |
| 1500 | 3600 |
*Note: 2.85 mm is a commonly ordered nominal thickness for cost-optimized facade panels.*
AA3003 H16 – 3.0 mm thickness
| Width (mm) | Length (mm) |
|---|---|
| 1220 | 2440 |
| 1500 | 3000 |
| 2000 | 3000 |

| 1220 | 2800 |
| 1220 | 2500 |
| 1500 | 3100 |
| 1500 | 3400 |
These dimensions represent the most requested combinations for curtain wall fabrication, allowing panel producers to minimize cutting waste and optimize nesting.
Surface Finishes and Coatings
Aluminum sheets for curtain walls are often supplied with a mill finish for in-house coating, or pre-coated with:
- PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) coating – Excellent weather resistance, color retention, and UV durability. Standard colors include silver, bronze, dark grey, and custom RAL shades.
- Polyester powder coating – Cost-effective option for interior applications or less exposed facades.
- Anodized finish – Provides a metallic appearance with good scratch resistance, available in clear, bronze, or black.
For this shipment, the sheets were supplied in mill finish, allowing the client to apply their own coating system locally.
Key Applications in Building Construction
Exterior Curtain Walls
Non-structural cladding systems attached to the building frame. Aluminum panels provide a modern appearance, wind load resistance, and thermal efficiency when combined with insulation.
Spandrel Panels
Used to conceal structural elements between floors. Aluminum sheets are formed into trays or flat panels and often match the color of vision glass.
Column Covers and Soffits
Decorative cladding around structural columns and under eaves or canopies. The formability of 1100 and 3003 alloys allows for curved or folded profiles.
Louvers and Sunscreens
Perforated or solid aluminum panels used for solar control and ventilation. 5052 is preferred for longer spans due to its higher strength.

Quality Control Points
Each sheet is checked for:
- Thickness tolerance: ±0.02 mm for standard grade
- Flatness: Suitable for roll forming or press brake bending without oil-canning
- Surface condition: No roll marks, scratches, or dirt that would affect coating adhesion
- Edge condition: Trimmed square, no burrs or jagged edges
Mill test certificates per EN 10204 or ASTM B209 are provided with each shipment.
Our Guarantees
Guaranteed 90-degree bending without cracking(H14): All sheets supplied for curtain wall applications are tested to withstand a 90-degree bend (inside radius equal to or greater than 1.5x thickness) without any surface cracking, ensuring reliable performance during panel forming and installation.
Guaranteed sheet quantity: The exact number of sheets specified in the order is delivered. Shortages or overages are strictly controlled, and each package is counted before sealing.

Supporting the Building Industry
This shipment supports a facade contractor working on a commercial high-rise project. Ready-to-use aluminum sheets reduce lead times for panel fabrication and help maintain construction schedules.
